Student Wellbeing team

They are here to make sure you are having the best possible experience at University. Any day, any time — they are on hand to offer support. They work closely with other support services at the University to ensure you get the help and support that you need.

Below are some of the ways in which the Student Wellbeing Team are able to help you:

  • Helping you settle into University life.
  • Supporting your wellbeing whilst you study.
  • Providing support to individuals and groups in the event of an emergency or problem.
  • Signposting and referring you to services, both internal and external, when you need additional support.
  • Proactively promoting a healthy, safe and enjoyable University experience.
  • Encouraging the development of life skills for students to aid with University life and beyond.
  • Supporting students who may be facing significant difficulties in their life or dealing with a crisis.

Disability team — supports students with disabilities, mental health conditions, or specific learning difficulties.

Student Inclusion team — supports underrepresented groups including Care Leavers, estranged and mature students.

Faith and Reflection Centre —provides opportunities for individuals to practice and explore their faith and beliefs.

SUSU Advice Centre — provides free, independent, and confidential support on practical matters like managing your finances, and academic support.

Here at Southampton, there is support for everyone.

Not only are there support services at the University, there are also some amazing organisations and charities that can support you. 

Your doctor
Your doctor can support you with both your mental and physical health. The Mental Health Foundation has some useful tips and advice on how to talk to your doctor about your mental health - check out their webpage.

Samaritans (24/7)
Samaritans are always there for you to talk to, in whatever way you feel comfortable - about anything that’s bothering you. Samaritans will listen to you without judging or telling you what to do. You can contact them by phone, email, letter, or visit them at your local branch.

SHOUT
If you’re feeling anxious, worried or stressed, you can get help from Shout’s team of Crisis Volunteers anytime. Text 85258 for free (all major mobile networks).

No Limits
No Limits is a charity that provides free and confidential information, advice, counselling, support and advocacy for children and young people under 26 who live in Southampton and Hampshire.

HOPELineUK
HOPELineUK is a confidential service that offers support and advice for young people under 35 who may be thinking about suicide.
